Another Successful Core Results Chichester Fitness and Weight Loss Story

Nothing delights us more than being able to boast yet another successful Core Results Chichester fitness and weight loss story!

This particular gym member was only to pleased to provide us with an overview of her journey and achievements since joining our gym in February.

Rachel’s Fitness and Weight Loss Journey

When I joined Core Results in February of 2017 I was in a state of desperation. I had spent the last 10 years of my life battling with my weight and disordered eating behaviours – over and under-eating at different times. I was yo-yoing between 63kg (10 stone) all the way up to 98kg (>15 stone) which is where I found myself in December 2016 at just 23 years old.

Core Results gym was my ‘last resort’ so when I walked into the gym in February 2017 I went in with an open mind. I decided to do absolutely everything they advised (that way if it didn’t work I could blame them, not myself!)

I was most intrigued by Core Results’ emphasis on getting results and the way they went about asking what my personal goals were (or rather helping work out what they were, I wasn’t sure). They then discussed with me the ways in which we could go about achieving these goals.

Before I even picked up a weight or did a single squat I was given a bio-mechanic assessment. For this I was made to feel very comfortable and safe. Being so overweight at the time I would usually have felt very vulnerable and embarrassed having any kind of physical assessment. Greg however, was brilliant and kept me totally relaxed. From this assessment Greg designed and taught me a personalised warm up routine to follow before training sessions.

I was somewhat relieved when I received my nutritional guidance information from Emily, after having spent a couple of days recording a food and activity diary. Hopefully she didn’t notice too much, but I was most sceptical about the nutritional side. I thought I knew enough and that I had a ‘healthy’ diet. I though that my diet couldn’t really help me that much in my weight loss attempts.

That being said, Emily introduced me to macro tracking (tracking my macronutrient intake of carbs, protein and fats). This initially seemed like it might be a bit of a faff. I was willing to commit a couple of minutes of my day though. I did this using a handy app to help me track my macros according to the targets she had set me. After all, I was willing to try anything and ready to blame someone else if it didn’t work!

The introduction to macro tracking was a game changer for me (and it’s easier than you may think). I was relieved to find that I would not be expected to unreasonably restrict my calories, compromise some of my dietary preferences or give up going out with friends and enjoying food.

Instead Emily offered useful, practical advice and checked in with me each week to see how I was getting on. This was not just to see the number on the scales or how many inches my waist measured. It was however also to see how I was getting on mentally. This included what my sleep and energy levels were like and how I was adjusting to the changes I’d made. The transformation I’m undergoing is as much a mental one as it is a physical one. Emily always has my back on both of these aspects. I now have a much healthier relationship with food, understanding how it works to fuel the body to perform its best, but still able to enjoy it!

When it came to starting my first programme at Core Results gym I was no stranger to exercise. I had never seen an approach quite like it before though! I cannot emphasise enough the professionalism of the trainers. The semi-private sessions ensured that I was always monitored for safety but didn’t feel like they were constantly critiquing everything I did. It’s a fantastic balance which left me feeling safe, encouraged out of my comfort zone, and all the time empowered to push myself.

Coming from a background in dance I’m a technique snob so loved that their priority was technique, safety and avoiding injury. The knowledge passed down about how different exercises work for the body and why those exercises had been selected for me personally is so interesting. This also helps push me through those last few reps. I enjoyed the design of the programme – 2 different workouts which you alternate between for a while before being given a new personalised programme. This not only prevents you from getting bored but allows you to progress onto more advanced exercises. This improves your strength and stamina. The workouts leave me feeling challenged, yet not afraid or reluctant to return to the gym! I’ve had the opportunity to train with each of the trainers both on a semi-private and group class basis and they are all fantastic.

Skip forward a few months and I’m now not only going to my two semi-private training sessions each week but attending as many classes as I can! I’ve become ‘one of those people’ who get up and go to the gym at 6.30 every morning! The group classes have a great atmosphere which leave you looking forward to the next one. It’s like meeting up with friends but getting fit and smashing your goals at the same time. I cannot emphasise enough how good it feels that exercise is no longer a necessary, seemingly unrewarding chore for me. It’s now an essential part of my day. I genuinely enjoy it and can’t imagine not doing it!

The greatest motivator has been RESULTS. Fantastic results due to consistency in my training and nutrition. All whilst still having a life, enjoying myself and maintaining a realistic, sustainable lifestyle.

6 months after joining Core Results gym I am more than 11kg (24lbs) lighter with which I am thrilled! I won’t tell you it’s been easy, but it has been easier than I anticipated. The trainers at Core Results have been the best support in this journey to being fitter, stronger and more empowered than ever. I absolutely could not have done it without them! For the first time in years my health, fitness and aesthetic goals finally feel achievable. This is absolutely priceless.

I can’t wait to see where I am by the end of the year (or even the end of next year!) and I look forward to sharing my transformation photos in the near future!
